Picture day! A Portrait Project

Lesson Title: Picture Day!
Length of Class: 1 days minimum.
Length of Lesson: 55 minutes
Grade: Kindergarten
Objective: Students will learn what a portrait is. Then, students will use fabric, crayons, and/or markers to make one. It may be of a real or fictional person, i.e. an alien.
Standards: Experiment with various media and be introduced to line, shape, from, color and texture.

DAY ONE:
Students will be introduced to the lesson. Students then will return to their tables. They will draw their portrait first in pencil, then cut and glue down fabric for at least one part of it. Depending on time, students will then color in their pictures using crayons and/or markers.
WEEK TWO:
Students will finish and bring home their picture. The teacher will choose one to hang up.
